- Bio: Irene Knickerbocker
Irene Knickerbocker, 76, Webster City, a former Williams area resident, died Monday afternoon, July 24, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, where she had beena patient for 12 days. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City is after 5 p.m. today until 9 a.m. Thursday, when the casket will be taken to the church.
Irene Nerland, daughter of Peter and Anna Olson Nerland, was born Sept. 18, 1912, on a farm near Radcliffe. She attended Radcliffe rural schools and graduated from Radcliffe High School. She later taught in the Radcliffe area rural schools. She married Robert Knickerbocker in Chilicothe, Mo. The couple farmed near Ellsworth for five years. They then moved to the Knickerbocker family farm southeast of Williams. Mrs. Knickerbocker was preceded in death by her husband in March 1970. She moved to Webster City in 1975.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Knickerbocker, Detroit, Mich., and Robert Knickerbocker, Norwalk; two daughters, Sandra (Mrs. Richard) Roberts, Webster City, and Connie Echelberger, Clearwater, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Everett Nerland, Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Knickerbocker was preceded in death by one great-grandson, her parents and two brothers.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams, and the ALCW; the Harmony and Birthday Club, both in Williams.
