- Bio: David H. Raff , 87, was lifted up to the Lord on June 25, 2012 . Born July 10, 1924 in San Francisco to German immigrants, he learned to speak English at St. Paulus Lutheran School.
- David attended James Lick Jr. High and then graduated from Mission High School. He completed the Radio TV course at Heald College in 1954 with help from the GI bill.
- His first job was delivering the newspaper for Mission Merchants and San Francisco Shopping. He spent eight years as a serviceman for Remington Rand and was then drafted into the Army. Trained as a rifleman he was put into the reserves until 1950 when he was called to active duty in Japan during the Korean conflict. David was then sent to Korea where he served as a typewriter technician in the Quarter Master Corp.
- He was an extremely happily married man and father. David met his wife Betty at St. Paulus Church during a Sunday School Christmas program. On October 1, 1956, they moved to San Bruno. They had four children, William, Barbara, Paul and Rose and celebrated their 50th Golden Anniversary on August 29, 2002. David retired in 1981 as a Repair Supervisor for Pacific Telephone and spent the following years building his dream home on Lake Vermilion in Cook Minnesota, relaxing at the lake, golfing, fishing, tinkering in his garage, traveling to Canada and Germany and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His faith was strong and his gift of giving was felt by many including his second family at Hope Lutheran Church in Daly City.
- After losing his loving wife in 2003, his spirits were lifted when he and Rosel Kustos formed a special bond of companionship. They would take turns traveling between the U.S. and Germany, enjoying excursions, taking care of each other during emotional and physical set-backs, and most importantly sharing their love of God.
- David was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann.
- He is survived by his children: William Raff, Barbara Fears, Paul Raff and Rose Gardner; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
