- Bio: Services for Julia E. Hanson Amdahl, 97, of Estherville will be held at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, August 12 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery in Sherburn. She died on Thursday, August 9 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
- Visitation, Legion of Mary Rosary and Parish Vigil Service were held Friday, August 11 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
- She was born on April 3, 1898 in East Chain, Minn., the daughter of Jon and Catherine (Pawlak) Mosloski. She received her education in the East Chain schools. She was united in marriage to Chester A. Hanson on February 16, 1928 in Winona, Minn. After her marriage, the couple farmed in the Dunnell, Minn. Area until Chester’s death on October 16, 1944.
- On April 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Severt Amdahl and the couple moved to Estherville in 1952. Severt passed away on April 29, 1994 having celebrated 49 years of marriage.
- She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
- Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lou Besaw of El Jebel, CO; three sons, LaVerne Hanson of Dallas, TX; Merrill (Merle) Hanson of Estherville; Richard Hanson of Sherburn, Minn.; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
- She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one infant son, one granddaughter, three brothers and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 12, 1995)
