- Bio: LA FAYETTE - Frances Hansen, 96, passed on to eternal life, Sunday, August 27, 2006, at Heritage Manor in Bloomington, IL.
- Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31 at the La Fayette United Methodist Church. Rev. Walter Miller and Rev. Marjorie Mair-Hansen will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m.,Wednesday, August 30 at the Rux Funeral Home in Galva, IL and 1 hr. prior to the services on Thursday at the Church. Private burial will be held at the Mc Clenahan Cemetery, La Fayette. IL. Memorials may be directed to the La Fayette United Methodist Church.
- She was born December 2, 1909, in La Fayette, IL the daughter of Bert & Mabel (King) Mc Clenahan. She married Theodore (Ted) Hansen on November 13, 1932. He preceded her in death. Surviving is a son, Theodore (Marge) Hansen, Jr., 2 daughters, Marilyn (David) Stone and Sheryl Hansen, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Herb & 2 sisters, Joyce Cunningham and Gladys Montgomery.
- Frances graduated from La Fayette High School in 1928 after serving as senior class president and from the Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing,Chicago in 1931 as a Registered Nurse. She then took post-graduate surgical nursing studies becoming an operating-room supervising nurse. She taught Sunday School and led Bible studies at the First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge, IL. She was politically active, writing letters, hosting meetings and giving speeches. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution holding local & state offices.
