- Bio: Evelyn L. Roseland, 93, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012.
- Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Chapel. Entombment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
- Evelyn was born January 2, 1919 in Goliad County Texas to Emil A. Loest, Sr. and Bertha Storbeck Loest. She was raised in Archer City, Texas and attended Archer City High School. She met her future husband, Leonard Roy Roseland, in Wichita Falls, Texas while he was assigned to Sheppard Field. She and Lee married on August 23, 1942 in Petaluma, California. Together, they made a full career in the military, first serving in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and then in the newly formed Air Force when he was recalled to active duty for the Korean Conflict. Evelyn and their children accompanied Lee during his military assignments to Abilene, Texas; North Carolina; Colorado; Mississippi; California; Berlin, Germany; North Dakota; and finally to Wichita Falls in 1968 where they eventually retired. Evelyn also resided in Wichita Falls during Lee's three year-long overseas assignments that enabled her to care for her children and provide loving assistance to her aging parents. Evelyn was an active member and president of several Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer Wives Clubs and a frequent volunteer at the Sheppard thrift shop.
- She enjoyed life and her many travel opportunities, such as a Caribbean cruise to celebrate her 90th birthday with her entire family during Christmas 2008 and other family cruises to Vancouver British Columbia for Mother's Day in 2010 and to Alaska in July/August 2012. She also traveled to Naples, Florida for her great-granddaughter's first birthday in March 2012. When asked by her friends where she was traveling next, she would just reply, "Wherever my family tells me."
- She is survived by her daughter, Lynne Thompson and husband Bob of Fairfax, Virginia; son, Larry Roseland and wife Jo Anne of Niceville, Florida; daughter Karen Fischer and husband Charles Fawcett of Wichita Falls; daughter Betty Moulder and husband Jack of San Antonio, Texas; three granddaughters: Katherine Thompson Garstang and husband Stephen of Charlottesville, Virginia; Marianne Roseland and husband Robert Smith of Boxford, Massachusetts; and Adrianne Roseland Fruecht and husband Joshua and great-granddaughter Olivia Grace Fruecht of Manhattan, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her father Emil Loest Sr., her mother Bertha, her brother Emil Jr., her husband Lee, and her son-in-law, Steve Fischer.
Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
