- TIPTON, Iowa -- William Arthur Hobstetter, 94, of 320 E. Third St., Tipton, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at his home.
- Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. The Rev. Eugene Benda will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Mary Barnum and vocalist, Diane Moon. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
- Visitation is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. Mary's Parish Hall, Tipton. Memorials may be made to the Tipton High School Track Program.
- Mr. Hobstetter was born Jan. 20, 1910, in Tipton, the son of Arthur P. and Arabelle Armstrong Hobstetter. He married Clara Walters in 1934 in West Liberty. She preceded him in death in 1943. He later married Evelyn Moss in 1951 in Iowa City.
- He graduated with the first graduating class of Tipton Jr. College in 1929 and from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in business in 1931.
- He owned and operated Hobstetter's Dairy from 1920-1992.
- He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton Chamber of Commerce, Tipton Moose Lodge and Tipton Country Club and a past member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
- Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Hobstetter of Tipton; three daughters, Frances Lonergan of Cordova, Ill., Sandy Childs and husband, Larry, and Mary Jo Geadelmann and husband, Larry, all of Tipton; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Davis of Iowa City.
- He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Clara.
