      1942-2021
    • Cary Walton Coole, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, the first of November 2021, peacefully at his home in Houston.
    • Cary was born on October 19, 1942, in his home at 102 Portland Street and was delivered by his father, Dr. Walter Coole. He attended Montrose Elementary School, Lanier Junior High, and graduated with the midterm class of 1961 at Lamar High School. While a student at TCU, Cary joined the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and ultimately, went on to graduate from University of Houston in 1966.
    • Cary had been a staple in the Houston real estate appraisal industry and was a trusted and reliable resource to so many. He built a business spanning over a 45-year period having withstood many ups and downs in the economy. Through it all, The Coole Company withstood the test of time. Along the way Cary hired many people giving them opportunities to get their careers off the ground. People frequently sought out Cary for his wisdom and guidance. He had a way of encouraging and uplifting others.
We will always remember him for his enthusiastic spirit and love of life. He would be the first to tell you what a full and abundant life he had through the years. He loved and cared deeply for so many people in his life. He enjoyed philosophical debates with friends and family. We are thankful and enriched because of his continuous, spirited discussions about life, history, psychology, and our country. Much, but not nearly all, of these topics culminated into Cary writing The Bridge to the 21st Century which was published in 2001 to which he dedicated to his two children and nieces.
    • His memory and legacy will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife of 37 years, Debra Hopkins Coole. They created many incredible memories together whether it was traveling, hosting many parties for family and friends or just the two of them enjoying dinner and a cocktail.
    • Also surviving Cary is his former wife and mother of Cary's two children, Nancy Clarke Schroeder; his daughter, Kelly Murphy and her husband Doug, and their children Wyatt and Elliott Murphy; Cary's son Clarke Coole and his wife Christy, and their daughters Ella and Chapel Coole, and is sister, Edana Coole Croyle and her husband, Dr. Philip Croyle and their two daughters Meredith and Mary.
    • Cary is predeceased by his father, Dr. Coole and his endeared mother, Edith Chapman Coole.
    • The family wishes to thank Houston Hospice for its service and care of Cary. Friends are invited to celebrate Cary's life at a memorial service that is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 18th of November, at the Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church Chapel, 11612 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77024.
    • The best way we can think to honor his memory is to continue living our lives to the fullest, remembering and practicing all of the love, wisdom and skills he taught us, and passing them on as he did to us.
    • In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Cary's name be directed to Baylor College of Medicine and mailed to The Willed Body Program, c/o Office of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs, MSC #800, P.O. Box 4976, Houston, TX 77210. Secure online gifts may be made by credit card at www.bcm.edu/giving .
