- Bio: DeWane Norman Huseby, age 84, of Mount Vernon, Washington passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2007.
- The son of Oscar M. and Sarah H. Huseby was born in October 1923 in Newman Grove, Nebraska.
- DeWane served in the Pacific for the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Leutze and USS Stormes. After his discharge, he joined his family who had relocated to Mount Vernon from Nebraska. In 1947 he married Peggy Jean Crist and they moved to Oak Harbor. They raised two daughters Kathleen and Bonnie. He worked as an electrician for the Navy until he retired in 1974.
- DeWane was also a volunteer fireman in Oak Harbor for many years. He developed Alzheimer's and was lovingly cared for by his wife. After 59 years of marriage Peggy died in 2006 and DeWane move from Oak Harbor to Ashley Garden's in Mount Vernon.
- Survivors include his daughters, Kathleen Taylor, and her husband Jerry, of Lake Oswego Oregon and Bonnie George, and her husband Ron, of Stanwood; his three grandchildren, Cynthia Revis (and Scott) of Scappoose Oregon, Ian Peasley of Beaverton, Oregon and Garth George of Stanwood; his four great-grandchildren Paul Revis, Syrina Revis, Samantha Peasley and Kyle Peasley; his brothers and sisters Evelyn (and Marvin) Barton of Bellingham, Marcy (and Marge) Huseby of Mount Vernon, Mac (and Mable) Huseby of Mount Vernon, LaVone (and Gordie) Kidder of Anacortes, and JaDene Rolfson of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Olein Larson.
- A memorial service will be held Monday, December 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Hawthorne Funeral Home on E. College Way in Mount Vernon.
- In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America www.alzfdn.org.
- Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.
