- Beatta Urdahl Orsland was bom to Hans and Hilda Hovick Urdahl on Oct. 27,1899 at Sioux Rapids. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. She graduated from Sioux Rapids High School in 1917. She attended college at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls for two years graduating in 1919. She taught school at Akron for two years, at Lake Mills for two years and the rest of her teaching career was spent teaching kindergarten children in Sioux Rapids, until retirement in 1968. Beatta and Ditlef Moller Orsland were married June 24, 1934. To this union were born two children, Beverly Ann and David Phillip. Five years after their marriage Moller got sick with Rheumatic Fever and it turned into Rheumatoid Arthritis. After that she patiently took care of him until he passed away in 1952. Along with raising her children, teaching school and taking care of her husband, she took care of her mother, sister and brother-in-law until they passed away. All with great patience and love. She enjoyed her grandchildren; attended all the activities she could and
was a member of the Sioux Rapids Historical Society. She lived alone in her house in Sioux Rapids until March of 1992, when she moved to Lake Mills to live with Beverly and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and sister, Sophia Hovick.
