- Bio: Archie Bennett Blooflat, Jr, 75, of Bemidji, MN died Thursday, December 9, 2010 peacefully at his home. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN with Rev. Genelle Netland officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. He was born August 10, 1935 in Park Rapids, MN, the son of Archie B., Sr. and Henrietta (Anderson) Blooflat. He was raised in Bemidji, graduated from Bemidji High School in 1953 and a member of the Bemidji High School Minnesota state champion football team. He attended Bemidji State University. He loved boxing and was a runner up in the 1957 Upper Midwest Heavyweight Golden Glove Championship. He joined the Bemidji Police Force and later was a Beltrami Deputy Sheriff. He also served in the National Guard Reserve. He married Eileen Sheehy and had three children raising their family in Cottage Grove, MN where they lived for 37 years. During this time, he was employed by Stillwater Prison, then Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a special agent/detective for 25 years, where he received numerous marksmanship trophies in regional competitions. He returned to Bemidji three years ago where he lived out the remainder of his life. He loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, sports, and many family trips to various places. He is survived by a daughter - Nora (Thomas) Galbicsek of Whispering Pines, North Carolina 2 sons- Archie Blooflat III of St. Cloud, MN Bennett (Tina) Blooflat of Fort Ripley, MN Former wife- Eileen Sheehy Blooflat of Hastings, MN 13 grandchildren 2 brothers Don (Marlys) Blooflat of Bagley, MN Lowell Blooflat of Bemidji, MN Many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers- Allen and infant brother- Lloyd and sister Louise Anderson.
