    • Bio: John (Jack) Munson
    • Indianapolis – Jack was a wonderful, loving father and husband. He was a kind, genuine man, who valued the friendships he held with so many. His warm smile, wit, sense of humor, laugh and stories will be remembered and truly missed. Above all, family was most important to Jack, who especially enjoyed time with his adoring daughter, Ingrid Munson (Chicago) and son, Mark Munson (recently returned to Indianapolis from Philadelphia). Jack is preceded in death by his wife Jacky, and his parents Conrad and Mary.
    • Jack spent his childhood in Shabbona, IL, which he held dear to his heart and was very proud of his Norwegian heritage. He earned his degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), where he studied under the renowned Architect Mies van der Rohe and Landscape Architect Alfred Caldwell. His love for the Prairie School Style of Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and others were the greatest influence to his own design visions.
    • Jack moved to Indianapolis to join his former IIT classmate, Dave Richardson, as an Architect at Eli Lilly where he met Jacqueline "Jacky" Chisman, who he married in 1964. After years at Eli Lilly, Jack had the dream and freedom to do his own Designs. With the support of his wife, Jack left Lilly's to join Dave Richardson, creating their own Architectural firm. With the addition of Jim Weir, their partnership became Richardson Munson and Weir. Jack received many awards for projects for the Catholic Archdiocese Center in Indianapolis, Farmers Bank, and Dunaways Restaurant. He also worked on Paul Harris stores across the country, numerous Retail, Commercial, Residential, Educational and Religious buildings: Pilgrim Lutheran Church (Carmel), St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (Zionsville), Frieden's United Church of Christ, All Souls Unitarian, Hasten Hebrew Academy to name a few. Jack's passion for architecture was so great, he loved to share his knowledge and mentor others. He was proud of being a Juror with the Ball State Architectural program to judge student projects. He never completely retired and enjoyed working on smaller projects into this year.
    • Jack was an avid reader, loved the Arts, particularly Classical music – Rachmaninoff piano concertos were a favorite. With his quest for knowledge of the Arts, he joined the Portfolio Club which he enjoyed very much and was proud to recently serve as the President for 2 years.
    • Jack loved his neighbors and Meridian Kessler neighborhood. He can be credited with the Maple Road /38th Street Median Beautification project, earning him recognition from the City and Mayor.
    • Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 30th from 10am to 11:30am at Pilgrim Lutheran Church (Carmel, IN) in the Fellowship Hall. Funeral Service to follow immediately after at 11:30am in the Sanctuary. **Face Masks will be required.
