- Bio: Agnes L. Forland, 91, Garrison, formerly of Turtle Lake and Underwood, died July 21, 2005, at the Garrison Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Turtle Lake, with the Rev. Randy Emgarten officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
- Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
- Agnes was born Sept. 6, 1913, at rural Underwood, the daughter to Herman and Ranghild (Oie) Linder. She attended country school in Linder Township, near Underwood, until the eighth grade. Agnes was baptized and confirmed at the Bethel Lutheran Church of rural Coleharbor. She worked as a domestic for area farmers and coal mine employees for several years. Agnes married Lester A. Forland Sept. 29, 1940, at the St. Olaf Lutheran parsonage. They made their home on a farm northwest of Turtle Lake for many years. They moved off the farm and into Turtle Lake in 1984. Lester passed away in March 1985. Agnes continued to make her home in Turtle Lake and later in Underwood. She moved to Garrison in 1998. Agnes was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, where she was active with the W.E.L.C.A group and was a member of the local Homemakers Club. She enjoyed raising flowers, especially African violets, and was known for her baking and sewing ability. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family and was considered the neighborhood beautician. Agnes will be remembered for her creativeness, her pride in heritage, and her generous hospitality.
- She is survived by her children, Elaine (Gene) Hofer, Turtle Lake, Joanne Rauh, Garrison, Leslie (Wendy) Forland, Turtle Lake, Judith (Curtis) Miller, Bismarck, and Janet (Hank) Whittet, Loveland, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Tillie Radke, Underwood; her sisters-in-law: Gladys Norland and Ruby Britton, both of Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.
- Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents; and a brother, Ernest Linder.
