- Bio: Sam Amundson was born to Ole and Aasa (Skare) Amundson, on January 16, 1872. In 1873, he came with his parents to Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, and in 1888, to Hamilton County, Iowa. In 1903, Sam and his wife, Elsie, moved to Blue Earth, Minnesota.

Sam Amundson, 91, of Easton, died at 1 p.m. Sunday [August 11, 1963], at the St. John's Lutheran Home at Albert Lea, where he had been a resident since January 17, 1962. Death was attributed to complications of old age.
He was born January 16, 1872, at Odda, Norway, a son of Ole and Aasa Amundson. He came with his parents to the United States and located at Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.
In 1888 he moved to Hamilton, Iowa, and on June 25, 1901, he married Elsie Twait at Radcliffe, Iowa. They established their home at Blue Earth. He lived at Easton only a short time. His wife died April 2, 1946. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Gladys, 1 year old; one brother at the age of three and a sister.
Immediate survivors include five sons, Omer and Jesse, both of Easton; Gaylord, Watertown; Sidney of Bricelyn and Clifford of Wells; one daughter, Mrs. Rollo (Esther) Spencer, Watertown; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 14, at the Blue Earth Evangelical Lutheran Church at Dell, where he was a member. Officiating were The Reverend H. W. Melby and The Reverend C. S. Pederson. Organist was Mrs. Dale Erdahl and soloist was Mr. Wesley Nelson. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Orville Olson, Curtis Olson, Ernest Schonborn, Edwin Erdahl, Oscar Sabin and Fred Logemann. Funeral arrangements by Heitner Funeral Home, Wells, Minnesota.
