- Bio: OSTRANDER -- Edna M. Vikse, 100, of Ostrander, died Nov. 19, 2007, at the Ostrander Care and Rehab. in Ostrander where she resided since 2004.
Edna Marie Kappers was born Dec. 19, 1906, in York Township, Fillmore County, to John and Louise (Tienter) Kappers. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Edna married Edmund Vikse on Sept. 22, 1926, and they farmed in the Fillmore County area until moving into Ostrander in 1972.
She was a volunteer at the Ostrander Care Center. She was an active member at Trinity Lutheran in Ostrander, the ladies aide, and of the Red Hats. She loved music and dancing, and was a wonderful quilter. She was a fantastic cook, especially her donuts, cookies, and lefse.
She is survived by three sons, Darrell (Glenna) of Spring Valley, Fred (Shirley) and Don (Charlotte) Vikse, both of Rochester; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Donnett), Mark, Melodi, Monty (Laura), Michelle (Doug), Melissa, Dan (Char), David (Liz), Kristie (Joe), and Kelly (Tom); 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Vernon (Judy) Kappers and Clayton (Arlene) Kappers, both of Spring Valley, Bess Berg of Ostrander and Betty (Harold) Westphal of Spring Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; two children, Vivian and Marvin; four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander with the Rev. Nancy Solomonson officiating. Burial was in the Ostrander Cemetery.
