- Bio: Raymond Curtiss Falnes, 85, of Hot Springs Village passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Village Springs Health and Rehabilitation. He was born March 2, 1927 in Austin, MN to John and Esther Falnes. Ray served in the Navy at the end of World War II. He married Merilyn Falnes on May 28, 1949 in Rockford. He spent his working career with various automobile repair facilities in Rockford. He and Merilyn built two homes in Rockford, they enjoyed years of camping and water skiing on Wisconsin lakes before building their lake house on Apple Canyon Lake, IL. In 1984 they retired to Hot Springs Village, AR where Ray enjoyed making new friends, golfing, bowling, totem pole and character wood carving.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Merilyn, who passed away in December of 2012. He is survived by two sons, Alan (Valarie) of Appleton, WI and Ronald of Waukesha, WI; five grandchildren: Kristen, Ryan (Trine), Curtis, Rebecca and Chelsea; and five great grandchildren: Isabel, Yoni, Annabelle, Alex and Theo. He is also survived by his sister Sandra and his brother Gary. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Virgil, Donald, his sister Marilyn, and his grandson Matthew.
Visitation will be held at Caruth Village Funeral Home, 4623 North Highway 7, Hot Springs Village, AR on Friday, February 8th from 2 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Village United Methodist Church, 200 Carmona Rd. Hot Springs Village, AR. The family would like to thank the Lester Dierksen Memorial Hospice for their care of Ray.
