- Bio: Juliet Mortenson, 83, of Granite Falls, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at her residence.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, July 16, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Burial was held at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Juliet LaVon Mortenson was born April 24, 1928, the daughter of Reuben and Esther (Hanson) Berg, in Granite Falls. She was baptized and confirmed at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Juliet graduated from the Granite Falls High School in 1946.
Juliet was united in marriage with Thurman Mortenson on May 16, 1948, at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. She was employed with the Granite Falls schools for 26 years. She was active with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 69, Granite Falls Lutheran Church, Blood-mobile, Granite Falls Hospital and Manor Auxiliary, Daffodils, Block Nurse Program volunteer and was named the Yellow Medicine County Outstand-ing Senior Citizen in 2000. Juliet was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and brought her family to a Twins game for her 82nd birthday. She also enjoyed needlework.
She is survived by her brother Harold Berg of Hastings; children: Jeri (Greg) Manthei of Rogers, Arkansas; Nancy (Don) Saucke of Alexandria; Marsha (Barry) Fratzke of Cold Spring; Bruce Mortenson of Hutchinson; and JoAnn Mortenson of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren: Mike (Leslie) Manthei; Michelle (Chris) Kankousky; Shannon (Shawn) Eidsness; Courage Saucke; Harmony Swanson; Luke (Becky) Fratzke; Tara (Eric) Thielbar; Brenda (Corey) James and Amy (Justin) TenEyck; nine great grandchildren; and extended family and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thurm, and daughter-in-law Susan Mortenson
