- Lyle Swenson, 83, of Spring Valley, died Monday evening, Dec. 1, 1997, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
- He was born Aug. 23, 1914, in Hennepin County, Minn., the son of William and Hannah (Ness) Swenson. He was raised in Bloomfield Township, Fillmore County. He married Eleanor Vikse Jan. 15, 1936, and the couple made their first home on a farm in Bloomfield Township. In 1941 they moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., where Mr. Swenson was employed at Hayes Manufacturing and then Lear-Siegler, a jet airplane manufacturing company, until his retirement in 1976. They then moved to Bradenton, Fla., and then to Spring Valley in 1984.
- He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
- He is survived by his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Ann of Grand Rapids; Mich.; one daughter, Eileen Swenson of Redlands, Calif.; two granddaughters; and three step-grandchildren.
- The funeral was Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Revs. Jon Olson and Marlene Pankonin co-officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
- Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
