- Bio: Gene V. "Pappy" Storjohann, 69, of Calamus, died May 9 at home.He was born January 8,1942, in Davenport to Lambert Storjohann and Dora Siem. He married Laurie Prins on May 2, 1998, in Thomson, Ill.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Sarah Kretzmann. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus, with graveside military rites by the Calamus American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.He was a member of Union Iron Workers 111 and the Calamus American Legion. He was loved by everybody and couldn't go anywhere without running into somebody he knew. He loved his neighbors and was a strong family man. His biscuits and gravy will be missed greatly.Survivors include his wife, Laurie; five sons, Mike of Bloomington, Ill., Mark of West Bend,Wis., Rusty (Katrina) of Scottsdale, Ill., Justin (Rebecca) of Savanna, Ill., and Nicolaus at home; one daughter, Leslie Smith of Sabula; one stepson, Brandon Mahan of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; one brother, Kenneth (Debra) of Princeton, Iowa; one sister, MaryAnn (Lee) Mueller of Walcott; brother-in-law, Tom Clark of LeClaire; sister-in-law, Connie Storjohann of New Franklin, Mo.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Nicolaus; and two sisters, Cristina and Ellen JoAnne.
