    • Bio: Lloyd Wallace AskvigOct. 5, 1927-Oct. 31, 2016November 3, 2016Minot Daily News Lloyd was born October 5, 1927, in Minot, ND to Ole and Ella (Johnson) Askvig. He grew up in Carpio and was a Carpio High School graduate in 1945.Lloyd was united in marriage to Ora Anderson June 18, 1950, in Carpio, ND. They made their home in Carpio, while he was employed by a farmer, Elmer Kilene, in the Berthold area for a few years prior to managing a gas station and bulk oil distributorship until 1956.The family moved to Washington in 1957 where Lloyd worked for Firestone and owned and operated a drive-in restaurant. They returned to Minot in 1959 and he was employed at Dakota Drug, Sears and as a state employee for weights and measures. In 1976, he began his twelve-year career as linen service manager for Trinity Hospital until he retired in 1988. He also maintained a part-time job at the Flower Box as a delivery driver for many years. Lloyd was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot where he served on the church council. He also maintained a membership to the Golden K Kiwanis group of Minot. Lloyd enjoyed sports from outdoor recreation to basketball and softball. He was a participant in the city's first recreational softball league in the summer of 1960. Lloyd also enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting.His surviving family includes loving wife of 65 years, Ora, Minot; children, Catherine Armstrong, Carpio, ND, Michael Askvig, India, Martin Askvig, Loveland, CO and Maurice (Chastity) Askvig, Carpio, ND; grandchildren, James (Erin) Armstrong, Heather (Greg) Feland, Chutney Askvig, Caydra Askvig, Tristan Thompson, Siri, Reidun and Cimarron Askvig; great - grandchildren, Jessica, Tristan and Alex Armstrong, Tyrell, Hannah and Allie Feland, Everleigh Gallagher and Kinsleigh Barnes; greatgreat-grandson, Brecken Armstrong; sister, Dorothy Byrd, Columbia Falls, MT; brother, Alrie (Lois) Askvig, Apple Valley, MN; sisters-in-law, Pat (Don) Thiesen, Des Lacs, ND and Darlene Askvig, Kalispel, MT along with numerous nieces and nephews.Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cynthia, granddaughter, Michelle Bland and her husband James, sisters, Frances Lee and Rudella Nelson, brothers, Ole, Jerold, Richard and Don Askvig, brothers-in-law, Oliver Lee, Oliver Nelson, Dean Byrd and sisters-in-law, Norma and Artis Askvig.Celebration of the Life of Lloyd Askvig: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.Interment: First Lutheran Cemetery, Carpio, ND. Visitation: Friday, November 4, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.Memorials are preferred to the Carpio Lutheran Cemetery Association.
