- Arnie B. Likness, 86, Britton, died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Wheatcrest Hills.
- Memorial service was held Monday, April 14, at Rose Hill Evangelical Free Church, rural Langford, with Reverend Brent Bodenhamer officiating.
- Burial was held Tuesday, April 15, at the Black Hills National Cemetery of Sturgis. Military Honors was provided by the Black Hills National Cemetery Honor Guard.

- Arnie B. Likness was born March 8, 1917, on a farm in Day County, to Albert and Betsy (Holland) Likness. He grew up in the Langford area and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945. He served in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy in addition to stateside duty.
- He was united in marriage May 15, 1948, to Hazel Maxine Smith in Webster. They farmed in the Langford area, and moved to Britton in 1979. They have made Britton their home since that time.
- Arnie enjoyed woodworking and going fishing.
- Survivors include his wife of Britton; two sons, Michael (Penny) Likness, Britton; Steven (Sara) Likness, Durham, NC; one daughter, Susan (Paul) Volk, Tabernash, CO; a brother, Milton Likness, Tooele, UT; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
- He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
- Music was provided by Dawn Frohling, Mike and Penny Likness, and The Uffda Brudders.
