- Bio: Iris Holland
Estherville Funeral services for Iris M. Holland, 97, of Algona will be held
at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Estherville Lutheran Church in
Estherville with Pastor Ray Miller officiating. Interment will be held at
Estherville Lutheran Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003
in Webster City.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. today at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral
Home in Estherville.
Iris was born on Aug. 18, 1906 in Runnels, the daughter of Elmer Ernest and
Nellie Blanch (Lowman) Ware. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School. Iris
also attended Estherville Junior College, Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar
Falls and later Iowa State University.
On Dec. 22, 1928, she was united in marriage to Arthur Holland. Following their
marriage the couple lived in the Graettinger area where Iris was employed as a
country school teacher. Then they moved to Estherville.
Later they moved to Orlando, Fla. The family had a trucking business and they
owned and operated the Citi Service Gas Station in Estherville. Most recently
Iris has lived with her granddaughter Judy Reinking in Algona, where she worked
as Judy's office assistant.
Iris was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church, Royal Neighbors and R.S.V.P.
Left to cherish Iris's memory are one son, Maynard Holland and his wife, Sandra
of Cedar Falls; ten grandchildren, Dr. Judy Reinking; Randy Reinking; Lori
Mains; Monty Reinking; Darci Poulson; Christi Reinking; Mickey Reinking; Sherri
Ann Peterson; Jeff Holland; Wendy Rael; several great-grandchildren; and eight
great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband; daughter, Deloris; great-granddaughter,
Shaylan Reinking; parents; one sister; and two brothers. (Estherville Daily
