- Bio: Mary Severson, 87, Bismarck, N.D., former Madison resident, died from complications due to leukemia on Aug. 1, 2012, at her home in the Edgewood Vista under hospice care.
A private family service was held and she was buried in the North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery at Mandan.
- Mary Tommeraasen was born on Dec. 6, 1924, at Madison to Sandy and Ellen (Rensvold) Tommeraasen. She graduated from Madison High School and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She went to California and worked to contribute to the war effort. She married Harlan Severson of Chester on June 8, 1947. They lived in Madison until 1969, when they moved to Mandan. In 1971, they moved to Reston, Va., where they lived until Harlan retired from the Rural Electrification Administration, then moved to Rapid City.
After her husband's death in 2008, she moved to Bismarck.
She was an artist and interior decorator. In the 1950s, she began working as an administrative assistant for a computer business.
Survivors include three sons, Jody (Trudy) of Rapid City, Jeff (Sally) of Arlington, Va., and Scott (Charma) of Silver Spring, Md.; a daughter, Lynn (Gary) Warnke of Bismarck, N.D.; a grandson; and a brother, Wes Tommeraasen of Madison.
