- Bio: Funeral Service for Opal Vig, of Peever, SD was held on Apr 17, 2009 at Peever Lutheran Church, Peever, SD with the Rev. Steve Moberg officiating. The organist was Mona Greseth with special music by Janeen Kohl. Pallbearers were Harold Fryer, Linn Vig, Joel Hortness, Edean Landmark, Caroll "Spike” Nehls, and Kent Elliott. Opal Nerine Saterlie was born on May 4, 1920 in Veblen, SD to Ole and Nina (Evenson) Saterlie. She graduated from Veblen High School in 1938. She attended Northern State College, where she received her teaching certificate and taught rural school in Marshall County. Opal married Kenneth Vig on Jun 26, 1941 in Veblen, SD and worked at a defense plant in Los Angeles while her husband was in the service. They returned to Peever in 1945. She was active in the Peever Lutheran Church, occasionally teaching and quilting. She also assisted with book work at Vig Lumber for her husband. She enjoyed her winters in Texas and Arizona and loved spending time with her three grand-daughters and great-grandson. Opal passed away on Apr 14, 2009 at Wilmot Care Center, Wilmot, SD. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Peever, SD; two sons, Harold (Carol) Vig of Cave Creek, AZ, and Neil (Sandy) Vig of Peever, SD; three granddaughters, Melanie Vig of Scottsdale, AZ, Lindsay (Robert) Watson of Gilbert, AZ, and Kimberly Vig of Ervine, CA and one great grandson, Gabriel Watson. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
