- Bio: CANBY — Services for Lois Ione Hanson, 75, of Canby will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Canby. Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery, Canby. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel, Canby and will resume Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
- Lois Ione (Reyerson) Hanson was born September 14, 1941 to Wallace and Lilly (Wicks) Reyerson at her grandparents’ home in Porter, Minnesota. She was baptized at First English Lutheran and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby, Minnesota. Lois attended and graduated from Canby High School in 1959. Following her education she worked for the Farmers Co-op Association as a bookkeeper for seven years.
- Lois was united in marriage to Milton “Milt” Hanson on August 24, 1963 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on a farm in Oshkosh Township where she helped Milt on the farm. Although, they did not have children of their own, they truly loved children and claimed their nieces and nephews to be their own. After Milt passed away, Lois continued to manage the farm. Lois passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Sanford Canby Medical Center at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 5 days.
- She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she served on various committees and also as District Chair for WELCA for many years. Lois volunteered at the community hospital with fund raising, served on MECCA board for Lund-Hoel Museum and worked with home-health and hospice. Gardening and canning produce were her livelihood as well as her flower gardens, baking and cooking, and entertaining, especially for the holidays. Many family and friends enjoyed receiving produce and canned goods. Lois also enjoyed to embroider and make yarn hangers for gifts. Lois also put others needs before her own no matter how busy she was. She loved being with family and friends.
- She is survived by one brother, John E. Reyerson; sister-in-law, Linda Reyerson; nieces and nephews: Tara (Jeff) McCusker; Lisa (Gary) Flyen; Brenda (Kyle Anderson) Stern; Robert (Melanie) Reyerson; and Richard (Kayla) Reyerson; and great nieces and nephews.
- Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband Milton; brothers: Ralph and Lester Reyerson; nephews, Leslie and Jamie Reyerson.
