- Palmer resident Kathryn Dorothy Larson, 73, died Dec. 11, 1997 at Valley Hospital from cancer. In accordance with her wishes, no services were held.
- Mrs. Larson was born March 11, 1924, in Minneapolis to Flavious and Mary Oblinger. She came to Alaska in 1957 and resided in Anchorage until 1980 when she moved to Palmer. Along with her husband, Leonard, she established and ran several businesses in Anchorage from 1964 through 1978, including Kay's Pizza in Mountain View, 7-Star Pizza on G Street, Square Deal Pizza on Muldoon Road, and Len's Auto Detailing. She also assisted her husband in managing apartments, both in Anchorage and Tacoma, Wash. She also assisted her husband when he worked as a senior companion in Palmer by making appointments and doing paperwork. She enjoyed embroidery and traveling. Her family said, ''She loved doing the things we liked doing, from fishing, camping and going to movies to making holiday dinners etc.''
- She is survived by her husband, Leonard of Palmer; sons, Donald Mikkelson of Big Lake and Richard Mikkelson of Anchorage; daughters, Ginger Smith of Spokane, Wash., Laura of Tacoma, Wash., and Brenda Richmond of Anchorage; granddaughter, Demma Kay of Anchorage; grandsons, Michael of Juneau, James Smith of Spokane, and Kapper Richmond of Palmer. Memorial contributions may be made to Mat-Su Unit/American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 431, Palmer 99645. Arrangements were handled by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory of Wasilla.
