- Bio: Betty Vailevand, 70, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Lake Region Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1932 in Sverdrup Township, near Pleasant Lake, rural Underwood, the daughter of Ole and Myrtle (Ekstrom) Krog. She was baptized at Tingvold Lutheran Church, rural Underwood and confirmed at Tonseth Lutheran Church, rural Erhard. As a child, the family moved to Harvey, N.D.. where she attended country school. They returned to Minnesota when she was 12, and she attended Barnhard School.
On Sept. 27. 1948, she married Bernard Vallevand in Webster, S.D. After their marriage, the couple resided in Fergus Falls. In the mid-1970s, she started working at the Regional Treatment Center as a Human Services Technician, retiring in the late 1980s.
She was a member of Nidros Lutheran Church, rural Clitherall. She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, rummage sales, attending—We-Fest and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her son, Eugene Vallevand; grandson, Kirk Foss; parents; and three brothers, Arnie, Millard, and Alvin.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard; two sons, Ronald Vallevand and Gary Vallevand, all of Fergus Falls; four daughters, Julie (Gary) Brevig of Rogers. Diane Foss of Barnesville, Sharon Vallevand of Fargo, N.D., and Donna (Dean) Williams of Elbow Lake; nine grandchildren, Carrie (Charlie) Browning, Tammy Brevig, Pam (Jeff) Maier, Cheri Foss, Amanda Foss, Nicholas Foss, Jamie (Deanna) Williams, Alisha Williams, and Ashley Williams; five great-grandchil-dren; sister, Evelyn,(Everett) Neiswender of Ogden Utah: and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nidros Lutheran Church, rural Clitherall

Burial: Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural CLitherall.
