- Bio: The following provided by Find a Grave contributor "Cara"Great Falls Daily Tribune (MT), 15 Feb 1919Amdahl, Pioneer Smelterman, DeadJohn Amdahl, one of the pioneers of Montana, died yesterday at the Deaconess hospital. Mr. Amdahl came to Montana over 40 years ago from Norway. He was born at Norstraud, Norway, July 20, 1851, and was nearly 68 years of age. Mr. Amdahl had been a trusty, faithful worker at the smelter for over 30 years, being a watchman for that company at the time of his death.He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Julia, three sons, Martin, Zimmer and Clarence, all at home, one son, Theodore, in Canada, and John L. Amdahl, who is serving with the forces in France, being a member of the Canadian engineers. Martin and Zimmer have just returned from training camps, showing that the Amdahl family contains no slackers. Four children born to Mr. and Mrs. Amdahl have died.
