AGED BREMEN FARMER IS LAID TO REST
James Twait of Bremen township passed away at his home last Thursday, after an illness of about a month with hardening of the arteries. He was born in Norway, August 5, 1853, and at the time of his death was 81 years, 7 months and 29 days old. While he was young, his father passed away and he and his mother came to the United States in 1857. Soon after that his mother died and James was given a home with Mr. And Mrs. Lars Tollakson near Norway, Illinois, where he grew to manhood.
- On August 7, 1878, he was united in marriage to Martha C. Johnson near Rowe, Ill. The family lived on farms near Livingston county, Ill., Radcliff, Iowa, and Elmore, Minn., before coming to Bremen township in 1916.
- Mr. Twait was an honest and upright citizen and a neighbor who will be greatly missed. He was a kind and loving husband and father and was well liked by all who knew him. He was always ready to give others a helping hand.
- He is survived by his wife and two children, Mrs. Sam Amundson (Elsie J.) of Bricelyn and Joseph T. at home, as well as six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One child passed away in infancy.
- Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Rutledge Monday afternoon, Rev. Andrew Boe of Superior officiating. Ernst Belling, James Mecl, Ed Carlson, Robert Esboldt, Emil Nordstrom and Chas. Peterson were pall-bearers and interment was made in the Rutledge cemetery. Those from away in attendance at the funeral were Mr. And Mrs. Sam Amundson, Sidney, Clifford and Esther Amundson, all of Bricelyn, Mr. And Mrs. Halver Hinderaker and Joseph Hinderaker of Minneapolis. The community extends its sincere sympathy to the wife and children in the loss of a dear husband and father.
