    • Mikkel emigrated in 1872 to America from Norway with his third wife Kate (who he married in 1867) and youngest child Michael.
    • Mikkel Ingebritsen (Mitchell?) is the father of Newton, John, Caroline, Christine and Martha Mitchell, who lived in Livingston County, Illinois.
    • Mikkel Ingebretsen (1795-1872) arrived at Quebec, Canada on 18 July 1872. His son Newton Mitchell’s bio says that he died within 2 weeks, but nothing more specific. If he was ill on arrival it should have been noted in the records at the quarantine station on Gross Isle, near Quebec. I found a listing of ill/dead/born for his trip, but there is nothing about him. His widow Kate Mitchell s 22 April 1904 obit says that her husband died 32 years prior, which would be 1872. We have looked a good deal, but have still not found any details of his death (including place or date) or his final resting place. Mikkel’s sons John & Newton Mitchell and their sisters Carrie (Mitchell) Johnson [my 2nd-Great grandmother] and Christine (Mitchell) Thompson lived in Rowe at the time of his arrival. His daughter Martha (Mitchell) Tysver previously lived at Rowe, but had moved to Iowa by 1872. Mikkel s grandson Osmund lived in Rowe in 1872. Grandson James N Mitchell came to the US in 1871, was married at Rowe in 1876 and appears to have lived there until at least 1887. Mikkel s widow and youngest son ended up at Kernan, IL (Bill Shepherd found the gravestones for us in the Funk Cemetery). I wonder whether there might be a mention of Mikkel’s death in the Pontiac newspaper or any others in the area. It would have been in the last part of July or early August, 1872, it seems
