- Maxine L. Hillesland, 94, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.
- Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Grindberg officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the church on Monday.
- Maxine was born August 25, 1915 the daughter of Arnold E. and Gertrude (Peterson) Houge in Badger, Iowa. She attended Fort Dodge High School and graduated in the class of 1933. Maxine went on to further her education at the Fort Dodge Business College.
- On May 25, 1941 Maxine was united in marriage to Peter A. Hillesland at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Peter later died on November 8, 1945.
- Maxine worked for more than 42 years at the First National Bank as the Trust Operations Director. She had a tremendous commitment to her work. When she wasn't working Maxine enjoyed traveling with her sister. The two of them worked hard to see all 50 states and a large part of Europe. They would spend their winters planning and their summers traveling.
- Maxine was very fond of roses and was very proud of her rose garden and the different rose bushes that comprised it. She enjoyed watching nature at play as the birds came and went from the bird feeder and the squirrel scurried in the yard. Maxine was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
- Mrs. Hillesland was preceded in death by her parents: Arnold and Gertrude Houge, husband: Peter Hillesland, sister: Doris Houge and a brother: Willard E. Houge.
