- Bio: Mrs. Marit Oversea Nygaard was born in Osterdalen, Norway on January 16, 1863. Her parents names were Cora and Halstien Oversea. She was united in marriage to Johannes O. Nygaard in the spring of 1889. To this union were born five children, all of whom are living to mourn her death. They are Mrs. Sven Bakken, Mrs. Philip Zimmerman, John Nygaard, Mrs. Joseph Nygaard and Olaf Nygaard, all of Divide County, ND.
- In the spring of 1890 they came to Otter Tail County, Minnesota, where they bought a small farm. There all of the children were born. Her husband died in December 1905. She continued to live on the farm. She worked hard to raise her family of five children. She has always been a hard worker.
- In the fall of 1918, she came out to Divide County, ND where she has since resided. The last seven years she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Nygaard. She was taken sick with influenza the 14th of March 1931 and has been confined to her bed since. On June 16, 1931, she submitted to an operation for gall stones. Bronchial pneumonia set in and she passed away at 2:10 p.m. on June 18, 1931 at the age of 68 years, five months and two days.
- Besides her children she leaves to mourn her death eleven grandchildren, one sister and three brothers. Her sister, Mrs. T. Sater lives in Vancouver, B.C. Her brothers are John Oversea of Bagley, Minnesota, Sven Oversea of Lamberton, Minnesota and Esten Oversea in Norway.
- She was conscious most of the time until the end came and died peacefully in faith in her Savior Jesus Christ.
- Funeral Services were held in the Glenwood Lutheran Church Saturday. Rev. K. O. Waage and Rev. J. W. Rosholt officiating. She was laid to rest in the Glenwood cemetery. Blessed be her memory.
