- Bio: Margie Maxine Griggs Hoff, 85, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at a local care center. Funeral service with Rev. Cecil Harper and Rev. Charles West officiating will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Necessity Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-kitchens Funeral Home.
- Maxine was born on September 24, 1926 in the Union Hill community to parents Carl Durwood Griggs and Mary Ada Sullivan Griggs. She was a graduate of Breckenridge High School. Maxine married Lee Bruce Hoff on May 14, 1966 at the Necessity Baptist Church. She owned a catering service and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Before her health declined she was very active in the community as a volunteer. She volunteered at the Swenson museum, Breckenridge Fine Arts Center, and gave of her time to several other organizations. Maxine was honored as the Agricultural Citizen of the Year in 2002 for her work with the 4-H Club children of Stephens County.
- Mrs. Hoff is survived by her sister, Betty High and husband, Joe of Breckenridge; three nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bruce Hoff, three brothers, and one sister. Memorials may be made to the Swenson Museum and they can be left at the funeral home.
