- Bio: Marcia Rae Findley was born October 14, 1952, in Fairmont, MN. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Lucille (Pytleski) Findley. She attended Granada High School and later continued her education at St. Cloud State. Marcia then received her Master's and Specialist Degree from Mankato State University.
One June 30, 1990, Marcia was united in marriage to Al Thoms at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont. The couple made their home on an acreage south of Fairmont.
Marcia worked in the Fairmont School system for many years. She was the Dean of Students at Fairmont Middle School before becoming Dean of Students at Fairmont High School. Most recently she worked as a social worker at William Budd Elementary School.
Marcia was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Spirit Wind Choir, Fairmont Film Society, and Spanish Mass Music. During her free time, Marcia enjoyed music, horseback riding, dancing, giving weekly guitar and piano lessons, tending to her flowers and tomatoes, and making salsa. She was known as always being supportive to others and will be greatly missed.
Marcia passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at her home in Fairmont at the age of fifty-eight years and eight months.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Al Thoms of Fairmont, MN; children, Al Thoreson of Fairmont, MN, Angie Thoreson of Fairmont, MN, and Zach Thoms of Fairmont, MN, Anne McNutt and her husband, Mark, of Seattle, WA; granchildren, Kate, Darby, Zoe and Liam; mother, Lucille Findley of Granada, MN; brothers, Rich Findley of Granada, MN, and Mike Findley and his wife, Sue, of Granada; sister, Priscilla Scherman and her husband, Greg, of Forest Lake, MN; sisters-in-law, Mava Hanson and her husband, Curly, of Minneapolis, Juanita Goerndt of Guckeen, Bonnie Perry and her husband, Stan, of Mountain View, CA; brother-in-law, Bill Thoms of St. Paul; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marcia is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Findley.
