- Bio: Carlin L. Egesdal, Jr.Carlin L. Egesdal Jr. was born in Guckeen, Minnesota on November 24, 1936, the son of Carlin and Zella (Eichhorn) Egesdal, Sr. He attended school in Ledyard Iowa and was married to the former Lila Askeland on March 18, 1955 in Buffalo Center. For three years he operated a meat locker in Ledyard, farmed in Rake and Kanawha communities until moving to a farm near Leland in 1967.He was employed by Winnebago Industries until 1974 when he expanded his hog operation and also became a salesman for Moor-Man Feed. He died on Saturday, July 10, 1976 at the age of 39 years of injuries suffered when his single engine plane crashed near Lake Mills.Mr. Egesdal is survived by his wife Lila, and their three children, Kathy Jo, Darla Fay, and Mark Allen, all at home; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Carlin Egesdal, Sr., of Ledyard, two brothers and four sisters, Ann, Mrs. Robert Wallentine of Vincent; Larry of Manteca, California; Jane, Mrs. Darrell Johnson of Ledyard; Linda, Mrs. Roger Thompson of Ledyard; Kari and Timothy both of Ledyard. He was preceded in death by his son, David Eugene in 1964.Funeral Services were held July 13 at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills with Rev. William Gregerson and Rev. G.E. Jacobson officiating. Olson-Peterson Funderal Home, Forest City, was in charge of arrangements. Burial ws in Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center.Casket bearers were Sanford Egesdal, Jerry Hermanson, Howard Klinksiek, Howard Jutting, Karl Knudtson and Ralph Westerberg.Miss Carol Holtan was organist with special music by John and Orrin Torkelson.** Note ** This was originally published Thursday, July 22, 1976 in the Buffalo Center Tribune.
