- Bio: Lucienne (Desombre, Branch) Udstuen, was born into eternal life on July 8, 2013 at the age of 86.
- Lucienne Desombre was born November 17, 1926 to French immigrants Pierre and Lucienne Desombre. She was raised in St. Paul, MN where she met and married Francis (Frank) Branch. Lucie and Frank lived in Hayfield, MN for a short time and at Mayowood farms before settling on a farm in Eyota, MN where she lived for 40 years. Lucie's husband, Frank Branch was killed in a tragic accident in 1958 leaving Lucie to raise their six young children. In 1971, Lucie and Thalfred Udstuen were married. Thalfred preceded Lucie in death in 1988.
- As a young woman, Lucie worked for the Degree of Honor Protective Association in St. Paul, MN. She also worked for the Dover Eyota School and Jack Dory Accounting in St. Charles, MN.
- Lucie was a member of the Degree of Honor in Rochester, MN and was a charter member of the Rural Robins, a University of Minnesota county extension program, for over 50 years. She also served as President of the Olmsted County Extension Service and the Dover-Eyota High School Parent Teacher Association. As a long-time member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota, she was active in the Rosary Society. The Eyota American Legion Auxiliary recognized her for 61 years of membership in 2012. Lucie kept actively engaged in the community in her retirement years as a member of the Mayo Clinic Volunteer Service for 10 years.
- She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, square dancing with the Whitewater Whirlers, round dancing and camping with the Rounders Camping Club and spending time with her family and friends.
- Lucie is survived by her six children Francis "Marty" (Pat), Mary (Leonard), Margaret (Jim), Paul (Rezeda), Joe (Miriam), and Barbara. Surviving stepchildren from her marriage to Thalfred Udstuen include Larry and Linda and their families.
- She has nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one step great grandchild. A brother, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many friends and end of life caregivers survive her.
- Visitation and rosary will be held in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN on Monday July 15, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour before the service at church on Tuesday.
- Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday July 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota, MN with burial at the Eyota Catholic Cemetery.
- Memorials in honor of Lucie may be given to the Alzheimer's Association designated for research. Hospice memorials in memory of Lucienne Udstuen may be sent to the non-profit Tidewell Hospice at 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238 Attn: Philanthropy Department.
