    • Bio: Anchorage Daily News September 26, 1995
    • Soldotna resident Barbara C. Aadland, 76, died Sept. 24, 1995, of cancer at home, surrounded by family and friends. A memorial service was at Peninsula Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Jim Pearson of Sterling Lutheran Church officiated. Another memorial service was conducted later in Lynnwood, Wash., with internment in Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood.
    • Mrs. Aadland was born in Leominster, Mass., on June 15, 1919, to Frederick and Mary (Drummond) Chesbrough. After her marriage to Arthur McDonald in 1939, they spent several years living in Anchorage, and later settled in the Edmonds, Wash., area. On Nov. 9, 1973, she married Clifford Aadland, who preceded her in death. In 1981, Mrs. Aadland returned to Alaska, living in the Soldotna area. Continuing her education, she graduated with honors from Kenai Peninsula Community College. She worked as a full-charge bookkeeper, serving many aspects of several Peninsula businesses. She was a Northern Ringer, a lifetime member of the American Bell Association International Inc. Her family made this statement: ''It has been said by many that the engaging spirit of Mrs. Aadland captured and rewarded with joy the hearts of many near and far. She engaged life with a zest that had her friends from professional and social circles refreshed. Always available for an encouraging word, card or gift, she received with joy tokens from many people moving in life with a similar spirit of generosity.'' Mrs. Aadland was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
    • She is survived by her son, Eugene McDonald; and her daughter, Enid Martin, both of Washington; brothers, Calvin and Herb; sisters, Bea and Bernie; grandsons, Wayne and James Martin; and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Central Peninsula, P.O. Box 2414, Kenai, Alaska 99611, or the American Cancer Society, 1057 W. Fireweed Lane, Suite 204, Anchorage, 99503.
