    • Bio: Daughter of Clare & Esther (Bringelson) Burwell.
She graduated from the Riverton High School with the class of 1961, and continued her formal education at the Lincoln School of Commerce. Verlene was united in marriage with David Stringer on August 3, 1968 at the Church of Christ in Inavale, Nebraska. They lived in Alabama while Dave was serving his country in the Armed Forces. In 1969, they moved to Lincoln where she was employed with Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph.
Verlene and Dave's marriage was blessed with a son, Darin. In the spring of 1975, they moved to Inavale, Nebraska where they made their home. Verlene was an active member of the Church of Christ. She possessed a love for music and for many years participated with the ladies' Sweet Adelines Choir. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, caring for her home and visiting with her friends and neighbors. Verlene's personality was pervaded by her gentle disposition and compassion toward others.
Preceding her in death were her father and a sister, Janice Webber.
Left to treasure her memory are her family, Dave Stringer of Inavale, Nebraska; Darin Stringer and Dennis Peters of Alexandria, Virginia; her mother, Esther Burwell of Inavale; a brother, Ken Burwell and wife Janice of Minden, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.
