- Funeral services for Torrington, Wyoming resident, Alma Jacobson, 90, were held on April 28 in Vermillion, S.D. She died on Sunday, April 24, 2005 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
She was born on March 24, 1915 on the family farm east of Vermillion the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Lambert) Bruyer.
She attended Fairview Elementary School and then graduated from Vermillion High School in 1932. Alma then stayed home for a few years before attending the Mitchell School of Business for a one-year business program.
She then worked as a typist for the State Capitol in Pierre, S.D. During her schooling in Mitchell, she met her husband Earl Arthur ?Art? Jacobson, Sr., and they married on March 1, 1938 in Vermillion.
The couple moved to Elk Point, S.D. and also lived in Brookings, S.D. for a short time before moving to Palmdale, Calif. in 1956. Mr. Jacobson died in 1984 and Alma moved back to Vermillion in 1986 and finally to Torrington in 1995.
She is survived by her son Earl Jacobson, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Carol Person of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Sheila Forney and Mary Pack both of Torrington, a sister Dorothy Andrews of Tyler, Texas; and five grandchildren and seven great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Art, a son David, two brothers Earnest and George Bruyer, and a grandson, Eric Jacobson.
