- Bio: Ida Knutson was born in Alexandria, Minnesota January 28, 1890, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Bergsten. She was baptized in Alexandria and when a young girl the Bergsten family moved to Garfield, where Mr. Bergsten operated a general store. She ws confirmed at the Lake Ida Lutheran church. On October 24, 1911 she was united in marriage to Knute J. Knutson. After their marriage, they resided at Wildrose, N.D., for a short time, returning to Garfield where Mr. Knutson managed a hardware store and the Garfield State Bank. Mr. Knutson preceded her in death on March 4, 1955. For the past years Mrs. Knutson had made her home with her daughters, Lorayne (Mrs. Ed Reed) of St. Paul and Thelma (Mrs. Art Foslien) of Garfield. Mrs. Knutson died Thursday, December 21, 1967 at the Riverview Hospital in St. Paul at the age of 77 years. She is survived by two daughters: Lorayne (Mrs. Ed Reed) of St. Paul, and Thelma (Mrs. Art Foslien) of Garfield; three sisters: Mary (Mrs. Christ Johnson) of California, Tillie (Mrs. Charles R. Johnson) of St. Cloud and Mrs. Hilda Christenson of Bremerton, Washington, and one brother, Alfred Bergsten of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 23, at 10:30 a.m. from the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Rev. Donald Gladen of Garfield officiated. Pallbearers were: Harry Wells, Harold Wells, Arthur Foslien, Ed Reed, Merle Johnson and Charles R. Johnson. Interment was in East Moe cemetery, Moe Township.(Park Region Echo, 28 Dec. 1967)
