- Odell Kenneth Pederson, Franklin
- Odell Kenneth Pederson, 91, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011.
- He was born March 28, 1920, in New Effington, S.D., to Helmer Pederson and Sina (Aadland) Pederson. He married Ethel Haug on Feb. 23, 1953, in Minneapolis, the love of his life for 59 years.
- Odell was a Navy veteran of World War II. He enlisted in the Navy after Pearl Harbor and served in the Pacific area for five years as a PBY amphibious aircraft machinist. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 35 years and then worked for Mid States Engineering and Armstrong Engineering in Indianapolis.
- Odell enjoyed taking care of his lawn and garden and especially his family.
- He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Franklin Masonic Lodge 107, American Legion in Franklin, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Whiteland, the Zor Shrine in Madison, Wis., and the Sons of Norway Circle City Lodge.
- Survivors include his wife, Ethel L. Pederson; a daughter, Amy M. (Tom) Dougherty; a brother, Helmer Pederson; a grandson, Justin (Susan) Dougherty; a granddaughter, Lauren (Brandon) Shanks; and a great-grandson, Noah.
- He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Palmer, Idan, Ted, Chester, Gordon, Duane and Henry; and three sisters, Martina, Lenore and Aimee.
- A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Vandivier-Tudor Chapel, 951 N. Main St., Franklin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
