- The funeral for Karen “Koddie” Ann Marsaa, 71, Tappen, North Dakota will be Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Faith Evangelical Church, Crystal Springs, ND at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Faith Evangelical at Crystal Springs, ND. Burial will be at Fisher Cemetery, Tappen, ND.
- Karen Ann Randle Marsaa was born on February 13, 1944 in Mayville ND, the youngest daughter of Glenn and Alpha “Ducey” (Wadholm) Randle. She passed away into the loving arms of her Savior peacefully in her sleep at her home in Tappen, ND on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
- Karen attended grade school in Fort Totten, ND and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in May 1962. Karen married Verle Marsaa on July 21, 1962 at St. Michaels, ND. Verle and Karen resided in Devils Lake before moving to New Rockford for 25 years where their children grew up and attended school. She worked for the USDA for 18 years. Karen joined BEK Communications in Steele in June 1996 and retired 10 years later due to health reasons. She and her husband Verle, purchased their “dream come true” hobby farm near Tappen in 1996.
- Flower beds, mowing on her John Deere lawn tractor, and her grandchildren kept her young at heart. She also enjoyed attending church services in Crystal Springs, including playing the piano, and sharing her Christian faith with others. Connecting with many friends through camping and Steam Threshers filled her summer and early fall months. In 2012, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in Medora camping with all of their immediate family and friends. Karen was a member of Faith Evangelical Church of Crystal Springs, as well as a member of the Rollag and New Rockford Steam Shows.
- She is survived by her husband Verle, of 53 years; four children Kent (Marcee) Marsaa of New Rockford; MaryLou Marsaa (Rick) Nyhusmoen of Bismarck; Michael (Debra) Marsaa of Walcott, ND and Karalee (Robert) Harper of Bismarck; twelve grandchildren, Dani (Joshua), Joshua, James, Shawn, Krysta (Christopher), Daniel, Dylan, Koltan, Dakota, Brenna, Tyler and Travis, and three great grandchildren with another one expected this fall, one sister Nita Jean (Johnnie) McKelvey of Warwick, ND, one brother Charles (Joan) Randle of Roseau, MN and sister in law Arlene Holtz of New Rockford, ND.
- Karen was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Alpha Randle; her father and mother in law Melvin and Minnie Marsaa, daughter in law Gloria Marsaa and brother in laws Carl Holtz and Doug Orndorff. Sign online guestbook at www.dahlstromfuneralservice.com.
