- Myrl Peter Ramstad Jr. was born on 1 January 1932 in Bricelyn, Minnesota, the second child and only son of Myrl Peter Ramstad Sr. (1901-1959) and Ruth Luna Smith Ramstad (1905-1990). Soon after his birth his family moved to a farm in Braham, MN. In 1938, they moved to Osseo, MN, where they stayed just past Peter's high school graduation in 1949. That fall, while at Gustavus Adolphus College, he felt his call to ministry. He soon transferred to Hamline University, where he met his wife-to-be, Beverly Ann Ford (b.1934). They were married after his first year in seminary, on 12 June 1954 in Minneapolis, MN. After receiving his M.Div. from Drew Theological Seminary in 1956, Peter & Bev returned to their home state of Minnesota, where he served United Methodist churches for the rest of his life (even after his retirement in 1994). They had three sons: Pete (b.1957), twins Jim & John (b.1959) and a daughter Ruth Ann (b.1965). A quiet, humble and devout man, he preached till the very end, when he died quite suddenly on 13 August 2000 on their hobby farm in Hermantown, MN at the age of 68.
