Warren D. Pritchett, 81, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, unexpectedly while out riding his bike.
- Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Jon Gaul of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
- Mr. Pritchett was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Sioux City, the son of Albert and Hannah (Johnson) Pritchett. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident and graduated from Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in the 96th Infantry Division and was active in the initial invasion at Leyte in the Philippines. He also was active in Okinawa.
- He was employed as an administrative assistant to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the U.S. Postmaster in Sioux City.
- He was a member of American Legion Monahan Post 64. He was a kind and compassionate person and was an avid flower gardener. He raised violets for the Quota Club. He also was a member of the Stamp Club since 1955. He enjoyed boating and sailing.
- Survivors include a niece, Janice Fegursky of Tucson, Ariz.; cousins, Marian Frans of Sioux City, and Robert J. Spence of Richardson, Texas; a great-niece, Leslie; a great-nephew, Chester; and numerous other cousins and many friends.
- He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lois Pritchett; and a brother, Walter E. Pritchett.
