- Bio: David Wayne Peter, 61, of Ames, was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Israel Family Hospice House. Funeral services for David will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th St., Ames. Burial will be in Squire Boone Cemetery in Boone. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home.The son of Delbert and Dorothy Ferkin Peter, David was born Nov. 29, 1952, in Boone. He graduated from Lohrville Community High School in 1971 and furthered his education at Iowa Central Community College and Iowa State University, where he studied electronics. David married Brenda McGuire in 1995 at Briggs Woods near Webster City and they were blessed with one son. He worked in the electronics field in Belmond, Fort Dodge and Webster City, and at the time of his death, was employed by Power Film, where he worked as a quality controller. David was a member of Bible Faith Church in Story City, and was a worship leader for Iowans for Israel and Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International. In high school, David enjoyed playing saxophone and acting in plays, and in later life, ran sound and lighting for various community events in Story City.David is survived by his wife, Brenda Peter, of Ames; one son, Daniel Peter, of Ames; three brothers, Randall Peter, of Boone, Louis (DeEtta) Peter, of McDonough, Ga., and Christopher Peter, of Boone; one sister, Dorene (Ronald) Geerdes of Stanhope; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; and nieces Amy and Laura Geerdes.Memorials should be directed to The David Peter Family Trust (established to help support the ongoing basic needs of Dave's wife, Brenda and son Daniel), c/o Randall Peter, Trustee, 211 11th St., Boone, IA 50036.Online condolences may be directed to www.StevensMemorialChapel.com.
