Dolores Mae Smythe, 87, of Allegan, MI, died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility.
Dolores was born August 9, 1917 in Roslyn, SD, the daughter of Carl Odell and Clara C. (Stave) Olson. She loved the Lord, and singing, and was always active in her church. She also enjoyed family gatherings and often prepared special Norwegian dishes. She was an avid gardener and flowers always filled her home.
As a young woman, she and her sisters formed and sang in a well-known quartet. When her children went off to college, she enjoyed her work at the Benton Harbor K-Mart as the Jewelry Manager. Her husband, Eliot, was the VP and Secretary for Appliance Buyers Credit Corp., the finance company for Whirlpool.
She is survived by two children, Thomas and Tanya Smythe of Allegan, MI, and Edris and Masanori Takeda of Middleville; two grandchildren, Caitlin and Colin Smythe; two sisters, Helen Westby of Sisseton, SD, and Lucille Newcomb of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eliot D. Smythe (Nov. 29, 1977); brothers, Orville, Omar, Russell, Carl and Mert; and sister, Edris Sims.
There will be no services. Dolores will be buried next to her beloved husband in Waltham, MA. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel
