  • Noteringar
    • USDA inspektör Doris Josephine Olson Hitt was born April 2, 1928, in Bridge, Idaho, to Ray "Poppy" and Irene "Nanny" Olson. Doris was the oldest of three girls. She passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in Rupert, Idaho.
    • Doris was raised in Bridge, where she attended grade school in Malta, then moved to Ogden, Utah, where she lived with her Aunt Mabel and graduated from high school. After high school, Doris returned to Bridge and married the love of her life and longtime sweetheart, Jim "Pud" Hitt. Pud and Doris eventually settled in Declo, where they raised their six children, 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
    • In 1945, at the age of 17, Doris was named Cassia County's rodeo queen. Doris mentored many future Cassia County rodeo queens and dedicated many years serving on the Queen Board. Doris was later named Minidoka County Grandma Queen in 1990, being the third grandma to be given this title. Having many jobs in her younger years, Doris later worked for the government as a USDA inspector from which she retired at the age of 80. Doris enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and traveling but, most of all, she always had a house full of family and friends that she adored and loved taking care of.
    • She is survived by her sister, Sarah "Babe" Olson Hitt of Stockton, Calif.; her children, Judy Rae (Ray) Anderson of Rupert, Janet Ilene (Jim) Asher, Jim Earl (Jolene) Hitt and Joseph Dee Hitt, all of Declo, and John Michael (Ellie) Hitt of Heyburn; her grandchildren, Steve, Jeff and Ryan Anderson, Todd, Troy and Travis Asher, Jaime (Hitt) Bortz, Sheri (Hitt) Jones, Amy (Hitt) Peterson, Kalli (Hitt) Winter, Jerod Wade Hitt, John Jordan Hitt and Stacy (Hitt) Konrad; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Irene Olson; father-in-law, John C Hitt; mother-in-law, Fern (Lloyd) Hitt; husband, Pud Hitt; brothers-in-law, Jack and Ed Hitt; sister-in-law, Fern Lavina (Hitt) Adams; sister, Geraldine (Olson) and Dewayne Hutchison; beloved daughter, Jill Irene Hitt; daughter-in-law, Theresa (Guzman) Hitt; grandchildren, Kari (Hitt) John and Ollie Anderson; and great-grandson, Dakota Anderson.
    • A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St. in Burley, with Tim Darrington officiating. Urn placement will follow at the Declo Cemetery.
