- Bio: Marilyn Anita Anderson was born July 27, 1931 at Greeley Hospital in Waterman, IL to Laverne Anderson and Ruth (Bend) Anderson and died January 25, 2016 at the Heritage Health Center, Mendota. During her lifetime, she lived in the communities of Rollo, Leland, and Paw Paw. A graduate of the Rollo High School class of 1949, she attended the University of Illinois before marrying Floyd Erwin Bullis on Feb 20, 1950. At the age of 25, she was widowed and left to raise their four daughters.
- Marilyn’s life centered around the Rollo Congregational United Church of Christ, her friends, her daughters, and her jobs including managing the Rollo Co-Op Store, summers cooking with Ruth Durbin at the Del Monte “cook shack”, and 20 years with the Leland Community Schools, retiring as secretary to the Superintendent. She was a life-long card player and loved to read.
- Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband and his parents Grace (Miller) and Mefflin Charles Bullis; her parents and grandparents Thomas and Anna (Anderson) Anderson and Joseph and Eliza (Arnold) Bend; brother Lowell “Andy” Anderson; son in law Robert Gruben; beloved aunt Janet Anderson Hightshoe; and her dear friends Ruth Durbin, Manetta Atherton, Edna Hanners, and Virginia Hood.
- Marilyn is survived by her “Big Girls” Sandra Bullis, Waterman and Sharon Bullis, Rockford; “Little Girls” Susan (Jack) Barshinger, Waterman and Catherine Bullis, Vista, CA; her “fifth daughter” Betty Durbin (Don) Sawicki; and her dear, dear friend Martha Bianco.
- She was Grannie to Jaclyn Barshinger (Dwain) Brown, Andrew Dominguez, Beth Dominguez (Mario) Colin, Wesley (Amber) Barshinger, Bryan (fiancée Sara Mantis) Barshinger, Mefflin Bullis-Bates, and Julian Bullis-Bates. The great grandchildren are: Brooke and MaKenna Barshinger; Jaylyn and Anthoney Brown; and Moises, Noelia, Natalia and Noah Colin.
- She is also survived by her nephew Jay (Conni) Anderson, niece Kris Anderson (Tim) Sellers, several cousins including Jerry (Kathy) Johnson and Karen Bend Stadtlander.
- The celebration of her life will be at 2 PM Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Rollo Congregational United Church of Christ, the Rev. David Marquardt officiating. Visitation from 1PM until start of the service.
