    • Bio: Janice Marie Vetter, 73, of Huxley, passed away on Dec 23, 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN from complications of sarcoidosis of the lungs and heart failure. Janice was born Dec 16, 1942 to Maurice & Elinor Anderson of Huxley, Iowa. She grew up on a farm South of Huxley and moved to town with her family in 1960. Jan graduated from Ballard Community High School in 1960 as well. She married the love of her life, Melvin Vetter, on June 16, 1962. After graduating from high school Jan worked for the state of Iowa for 30 years; at the Lucas State Office Building in Des Moines, transferring to the DOT in Ames in 1977 where she worked as Secretary in the Office of Right Away Highway Division, Secretary 2 in the Office of Development Support, Accountant for the Railroad Division, ending her career as Manager of the Highway Railroad Grade Crossing Program. Janice loved cooking and baking for her family, extended family, friends, and co-workers spoiling us all. She loved sharing her Norwegian Heritage often with Kringla, Kumla & Norwegian Rice, homemade bread & rolls, as well as fresh canned produce. She always had an upbeat disposition, a servant’s heart, and was adored by everyone! Janice was an active member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley for many years. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Edward & Sylvia Anderson, Jacob Lee, and Edith Richardson, by her dad Maurice Anderson, and grandson Ryan Fraaken. Janice is survived by her mother Elinor Anderson-Christensen of Madrid, husband of 53 ½ years Melvin Vetter, children Melanie (Eric) Holtan of Forest City, Mark (Michelle) Vetter of Huxley, sister Darlene (Chuck) Buche of Madrid, brothers Duane (Claudia) Anderson of Madrid, and Don Anderson (Cindy) of Kentucky. Jan’s grandchildren were the apple of her eye: Suzanne (Brandon) Turner of Garner, Tiffany Fraaken of Ames, Jonathan Fraaken of Forest City, Allison & Samantha Vetter of Huxley, four step-grandchildren Travis (April) Holtan of Adel, Steph (Lukas) Wooge of Forest City, Joshua Holtan of Forest City, and Michael Holtan of Leland; four great-grandchildren: Gracie, Natalie, Trulie Janice & Wyatt Turner, 11 step-great grandchildren: Emma, Lily, Calvin & Willow Holtan, Shad, Jadyn, Grant, Grady, Kashden, Weston, Jagger Wooge, and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Mark Brutenelle of Mayo Clinic in Rochester for the 14+ years he provided excellent care for Janice during her illness, and also to her family and friends who personally supported her in a variety of ways. We are truly grateful! Obituary & photo published by Adams & Soderstrum Family of Funeral Homes
