- Bio: Mr. Ervie M. "Andy" Anderson, 84, of Aurora passed away Friday, January 25, 2002 at Provena Mercy Center. He was born on February 13, 1917 in Millbrook, IL the son of the late Edward and Martha (Hoya) Anderson.
Ervie was raised as a young boy in Sandwich, IL before moving to Aurora. He graduated from East Aurora High School in 1936. He enjoyed playing football for the school, and would work during these years as an usher for the Tivoli and Paramount Theatres. In 1950, "Andy" and his beloved wife founded Curbside L.T.D. better known as "The Eskimo Man" Ice Cream Trucks. He also purchased his much-loved farm in Plainfield, IL in the early 1950's. He raised tomatoes and sweet corn and sold them at various stands in Aurora throughout the 1950's and 1960's. The farm today is better known for its Christmas Trees, where Ervie was seen this past season. Ervie served his country during WW II with the 519th Port BN, U.S. Army, landing on Utah beach the evening of D-Day.
Serving his community as the past President of the Lincoln School P.T.A. and the Chairman of Aurora Salvation Army Advisory Board. He was a past member of the Fox Valley Girl Scout Board and he served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a charter member and past president of the Polar Star Lodge #472 Sons of Norway. Past Patron of Rising Sun Chapter #51 OES. He was a Mason for 50 years with Aurora Lodge # 254, York Rite, AF & AM Aurora Commandary #22, also member of Medinah Shrine, Aurora Area Shrine Club, and American Legion Post # 84 of Aurora, V.F.W. Aurora and the Aurora Moose Lodge #400.
He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Gail) Anderson, his daughter Karen Anderson, granddaughter Amanda Anderson, step-daughter Stacey Langus, sister Lila Larsen and many other loving relatives and friends including his caretaker Genia Kwieciski.
Besides his parents, Ervie was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Lou, and his sisters Hazel and Sylvia and his brother Miles.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at THE HEALY CHAPEL 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora with Rev. Jeff Barrett officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 4-8 PM January 29, 2002 at the Chapel with a Masonic service starting at 7:00 PM. Memorial donations in Ervie's name may be directed to the Aurora Salvation Army or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
He was much loved and will be missed by all.
