Anderson, David B. Resident of Apple Valley, MN, age 62, father, grandfather, entrepreneur, business owner, professional fisherman and beloved husband of Lois passed away suddenly, on Friday, December 4, 2009. He was father of Samuel (Tiffany) and Stefanie Anderson and loving grandfather of Zachary and Maxwell Anderson. He is also survived by his brother Steven (Mary) Anderson and sister, Lori Anderson. David was born in Windom, MN on March 09, 1947 to the late Marvin and DeEtte Anderson. He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1965 and joined the Marine Corps shortly after. He fought in the Vietnam Conflict and received two purple hearts while serving for his country. On April 20, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Lois Klontz and they had two children. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Ziegler's in Bloomington, MN, and later for Mitchell Transport in Savage, MN. In 1982, David and his wife started Anderson Diesel Truck Service, Inc. and in 1988 they bought Bay & Bay Transfer Co., Inc. They were also involved in the start up of Anderson Leasing in 1993 and Starr Ltd., LLC, in 1997. Their son, Samuel, joined the management team in 1997 to develop a plan to purchase land and build a new terminal in Rosemount, MN. Sam worked side by side with his father until the day of David's passing. In 1998 Fleet Development and Fleet Parking & Logistics were started. In 2004, David and Lois received the prestigious award for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Master Category. In 2005 they promoted Sam (their son) to President of Bay & Bay. Then in 2007 they purchased D & T Trucking. As a Professional Fisherman, he fished many different waters throughout the United States, while fishing in the PWT and FLW Circuits, the Leech Lake Classic, and the AIM Tournaments. He received the PWT Sportsman of the Year Award and the 2004 PWT Angler of the Year for the Western Division. He also had won many tournaments and awards over his 20 years of fishing tournaments professionally. David started the first Minnesota Valley In-Fisherman Club in Apple Valley. He was currently on the board of AIM (Anglers Insight Marketing, and a member of NPAA (National Professional Anglers Association). He was currently on the Board for Dakota Vocational Technical Institute of Entrepreneurs. He was a charter member of Post 1776 American Legion in Apple Valley. His passion for giving back to the community was expressed with his 31 year commitment as Gambling Chairman for Post 1776 American Legion in Apple Valley. He enjoyed fishing, playing poker and black jack, going to movies, collecting wine, dancing, and traveling. He was a very hard working, kind & generous man with a burning desire to always have a vision of the next big thing. We will all miss his smiling face and gentle ways, as he was also very compassionate. In lieu of flowers, donations to the David B. Anderson Memorial Fund would be appreciated and used to assist Disabled American Veterans, and other causes.
